I started a new thread in Typophile:

Criteria for choosing typefaces
How do you choose which typeface(s) to use for a project? How would you rate the importance of the following criteria (not in any particular order):legibility; prevailing trend/fashion; personal taste; client’s wishes/preferences; historical context (reflecting the time and place of the content); context of use (kind of paper, method of printing, etc); stereotypes (established conventions, e.g. script type for wedding invitation); uniqueness(in terms of distinguishing from others).

The Typographer’s Dream: a poetic look at shaping the world is a play about a typographer, a geographer and a stanographer: “In The Typographer's Dream a typographer, a stenographer and a geographer obsess about their professions, their identities and Canada, over dinner and several bottles of wine. The three specialists share an interest in the importance of accuracy and memory but, as the evening goes on, they reveal a surprising connection among themselves.” Quoted from Theatre Channel.

The web site you’re reading right now is featured in Typographica today. Thanks to Stephen Coles. Plus, Behind the Typeface: Cooper Black is a hilarious ‘Flash documentry’ on the legendary Cooper Black... very entertaining!
